This past summer a hiker fell to his death at Ghost Ranch, he was a veteran hiker, carrying the right supplies but it was late, he had been hiking all day and he was alone. Hiking without the right supplies is an invitation to disaster, not telling someone your route is unfair to your loved ones. The Continental Divide Trail goes right through that area and is well marked. Yes you had an adventure, we are lucky the tax payers didn’t have to pay for a search party, it’s one thing if you are well prepared and something goes awry, another thing if you are acting like you are immortal .

This is an unbelievable journey of physical survival driven by spiritual faith. A balance between a dangerous blood and sweat moment we think we control and the humbling moment when we see Gods will over us after all. The story drew me in completely!

I was at the monastery a couple of years ago and didn’t have the courage to go up-I stayed horizontal. A great story!

Amazing! What an incredible story. I felt like I was right there with the author, with heart pounding and in desperate need of water. Truly excellent writing. I would like to read more by this author.

Wow ! I thoroughly enjoyed Kevin’s telling of this journey to a part of the country I don’t know well at all. The beauty ( and hidden dangers) of a morning walk turned real adventure ! A great read !
